Our coaching staff consists of strongly qualified swim instructors
who are USA experienced and certified to coach these levels of swimming.
The coaching staff will be assessing your swimmer's skill level during
the first few practices. At the coach's discretion, your swimmer may be
moved to another group based on their ability. The SeaWolves currently
offer the following practice groups.
Senior
Group (14 & up) *
This is our top level group. Swimmers must be
physically and mentally ready to train with a more strenuous workout
schedule along with dry land training and stretching 2-3 times a week.
This group consists of advanced middle school age swimmers and high
school swimmers who are committed to the sport. Practice is 5+ times per
week for two hours each day. During the season, morning and afternoon
practices will be offered to this group.
Senior
Development Group (12 & up) *
This training group consists of highly motivated
middle and high school aged swimmers. Practices are geared toward a
higher level of training intensity along with a strong focus on
efficient stroke mechanics. Nutrition, core strength training and mental
strategies will be introduced. Practice is held a minimum of five days a
week for two hours each day. Consistent practice attendance is expected
as well as meet participation.
Advanced
Age Group (9 & up)
The advanced age group practice involves an
increased level of training in all four competitive strokes with a
continual emphasis on proper stroke technique. Dry land core training
and stretching are introduced. Swimmers are expected to attend practice
regularly and to participate in team meets. Workouts are offered five
times per week for 1 1/2 hours daily.
Age
Group (10 & under)
The age group practice focuses on proficient stroke
mechanics and balance in the four competitive strokes, along with fine
tuning starts and turns. Swimmers will learn various stroke drills, how
to read the pace clock and interval training concepts. Practices are
offered five times per week for one hours each day. Monthly swim meet
attendance is expected.
Introduction
to Competitive Swimming Group
Swimmers must be able to swim one full length of
the pool in both freestyle and backstroke. This introduction to
competitive swimming practice group is designed to graduate to the age
group level practice group. The focus is primarily on developing a
strong foundation in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle,
along with teaching the basics for competition starts and turns.
Workouts are offered four days per week (usually Monday-Thursday) for 45
minutes. Monthly swim meet attendance is encouraged on an individual
basis.
* Note: For the Senior Group and Senior Development
Group, certain equipment will be required for practice, i.e. goggles,
fins, paddles, tempo trainers, stretch cords, snorkels, etc. It is
suggested they be kept in a mesh bag with the swimmers name on it.
Orders for equipment will be taken as necessary and can be purchased
through the club.
