The SeaWolves swim team is excited to offer an Introduction to
Competitive Swimming fall program. This thirteen week program offers
four levels and gives the swimmer a chance to see what competitive
swimming is about. The Fall Swimming program is a USA Swimming
sanctioned program and requires that all swimmers be registered as a USA
Swimming member before participating. Program fees take into
consideration missed practices due to holidays, HHS Water Polo games and
unforeseen pool closures.
Intro to Competitive Swimming - (45 min - limited group size)
Swimmers must be able to swim one full length of the pool in both
freestyle and backstroke. This introduction to competitive swimming
practice group is designed to graduate to the age group level practice
group. The focus is primarily on developing a strong foundation in
butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, along with teaching
the basics for competition starts and turns. Monthly swim meet
attendance is encouraged on an individual basis.
Age Group - (10 & under, 1 hour) The age group practice focuses
on proficient stroke mechanics and balance in the four competitive
strokes, along with fine tuning starts and turns. Swimmers will learn
various stroke drills, how to read a pace clock and interval training
concepts. Monthly swim meet attendance is expected.
Advanced Age Group - (9 & up, 1 1/2 hours) The advanced age group
practice involves an increased level of training in all four competitive
strokes with a continual emphasis on proper stroke technique. Dry land
core training and stretching are introduced. Swimmers are expected to
attend practice regularly and to participate in team meets.
Senior Development Group - (12 & up, 2 hours) This training group
consists of highly motivated middle/high school aged swimmers. Practices
are geared toward a higher level of training intensity along with a
strong focus on efficient stroke mechanics. Nutrition, core strength
training and mental strategies will be introduced. Consistent practice
attendance is expected as well as meet participation.
Senior Group - (14 & up, 2 hours) - This is our top level group.
Swimmers must be physically and mentally ready to train with a more
strenuous workout schedule along with dry land training and stretching
2-3 time a week. This group consists of advanced middle school age
swimmers and high school swimmers who are committed to the sport. During
the season morning practices may be offered to this group.
