Parent Volunteer Requirements
The SeaWolves are a non-profit, parent run organization that relies upon participation from its members. Our organization is managed by a board of directors made up of parents and coaches. Please inquire if you are interested in an open board positions. We require parent participation at our swim meets, team activities and fundraising activities throughout the year, so please consider volunteering to help support our club and ensure the athletes have a great team experience.
Event Volunteer Requirements: One of the fundamentals of our program is swimming is a fun sport and with opportunities for positive experiences in and out of the water. With this in mind, we organize a number of activities each year to help foster an enjoyable atmosphere. Each family is required to volunteer at one of the events the team holds each year.
BSW Hosted Swim Meets (Home Meets): The SeaWolves host two to three swim meets each swim year. These meets are a substantial portion of our fundraising efforts. They are also part of our responsibility as a USA club to support the sport and provide diverse venues for our swimmers to compete. Each family will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts during any BSW hosted meet in which your child is competing. If your child is NOT swimming, the family is required to work one (1) shift. If your child is not eligible to swim you will be given first choice on the available volunteer assignments. Families may choose to be billed a meet contribution fee (ask [email protected] for further info) in lieu of volunteering.
**Families who fail to show up OR miss any portion of their shift will be billed a NO SHOW fee per shift.**
Away Meets: Teams are required to provide volunteer timers to ensure a smooth and well run meet. The number of volunteer timers each team must provide is based upon the number of athletes each team enters into the meet. Each family who enters a swimmer into a meet should expect to time at least one (1) timing shift over the course of the meet. Timing shifts will be assigned and emailed prior to the meet. You are expected to work the entire shift and not leave until relieved by your replacement.
**Families that do not work their assigned shift at an away meet may be fined per shift unless team is notified and member is excused in advance.**.
USA-Swimming Officials: Each team that attends a meet is expected to provide USA-Swimming Officials based on the number of swimmers it brings to the meet, and is fined $100 per day if it cannot provide officials. This is very important to the team, and parents who are active officials are exempt from all timing shifts and earn a discount on one (1) swimmer’s monthly membership fees. If you are interested in becoming certified as an official, please email [email protected] for information.
