Volunteer Expectations
Home Meet Volunteer Requirements
1. Shift Requirements
- Families with at least one athlete participating in a home meet are required to complete two (2) volunteer shift credits for that meet.
- Families without a participating athlete are required to complete one (1) volunteer shift credit per home meet.
2. Job Assignment Timeline
- Job assignments will be released four (4) weeks prior to each home meet.
- Member families will have two (2) weeks from the release date to sign up for their required shifts.
- Two (2) weeks prior to the meet, a reminder will be sent to all members indicating the final opportunity to select shifts and avoid fees.
- Seven (7) days prior to the meet, shift selection will close.
3. Fees for Unfulfilled Shift Sign-Ups (Home Meets)
- As of the close of shift selection (seven days before the meet), any family that has not registered for the required number of shifts will be assessed a $100 fee per unfulfilled shift.
4. Home Meet No-Show Penalty
- If a member is unable to work an assigned shift, it is the member’s responsibility to arrange for a replacement to fulfill that shift.
- Failure to fulfill an assigned shift, without providing a replacement, will result in a $200 no-show penalty.
5. Extra Shifts and Credits
- Beginning one (1) week prior to the home meet, any unfilled shifts will be opened to all members willing to take additional shifts.
- Members who volunteer for these extra shifts will receive a $50 membership credit per shift.
- For each unfulfilled required shift that results in a fee, $50 of the $100 fee will be credited as a membership credit to the member who works the additional shift, and the remaining $50 will be contributed to the TEAM’s annual banquet fund.
Away Meet Volunteer Requirements
Volunteer requirements at away meets are determined in part by the hosting club and are necessary for TEAM participation.

Timeline
- Job assignments for away meets will be posted as soon as they are provided by the hosting club.
- Member families will have forty-eight (48) hours from the time assignments are released to sign up for their required shifts.
- Due to the tighter timeline often imposed by hosting clubs, no additional warning or reminder may be issued before shift selection closes.
2. Fees for Unfulfilled Shift
Sign-Ups (Away Meets)
- At the conclusion of the 48-hour signup period, any family that has not registered for required shifts will be assessed a $100 fee per unfulfilled shift.
3. Away Meet No-Show Penalty
- Members who fail to report for an assigned away meet shift, without providing a replacement, will be assessed a $200 no-show penalty.
4. Extra Shifts and Credits (Away
Meets)
- After the initial 48-hour signup period closes, unfilled shifts will be opened to members willing to take additional shifts.
- Members who volunteer for extra away meet shifts will earn a $50 membership credit per shift.
- The remaining $50 of each $100 fee will be contributed to the TEAM’s annual banquet fund.
Application of Fees and Credits
- All fees and credits associated with volunteer obligations shall be applied to the member’s account with the TEAM.
- Credits from additional shifts will generally be reflected in the next billing cycle.
- Fees assessed for unfulfilled obligations and no-shows are non-refundable.
Annual Registration Fee - Alumni Only
The Annual Registration Fee is $93, unless transferring. The fee includes:
- $73 Membership with Pacific Swimming
- $20 Additional insurance
- Diamond Hills Sports Club membership (month to month)/ discounted rate
Returning alumni will not be charged for the team t-shirt and swim cap or volunteer fee.
NOTE: When registering, you will see the full $165 Annual Registration Fee; however, when you select the Alumni group, the charge is -$70 to account to deduct the shirt, cap and volunteer fee.
Intro Group - 45 Minute Practices
Minimum requirement to join the BSW team/group:
To join our entry-level group, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one lap) of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke. This is not a 'learn-to-swim' program. Swimmers in this group are expected to have basic knowledge of all four of the competitive strokes and complete the 2 laps as previously mentioned.
Ages: 5 & older at an introductory skill level
Practice Time: M-Th 3:45-4:30pm (45-minute practices / 4 days per week)
Group Goals:
- Introduction to the swim team training environment and team expectations
- Learn how to swim the four competitive strokes legally with correct technique
- Improve current skills in swimming with new techniques and skills
- Learn to dive
- And, most importantly, have fun!
Equipment: Floating fins and kick board
To move up to Age Group: Swimmers must show consistent dedication and attendance at practices. They must also be legal in all 4 competitive strokes.
Age Group (AG) - 1 Hour Practices
Swimmers in AG must have a working knowledge of all four competitive strokes. Instruction will be focused on stroke technique and drill progressions for each of the strokes. There will also be a greater focus on turns and dives to prepare for swim meets. Swimmers will learn how to understand intervals during sets and function in a group swim team environment.
Ages: 7 & older
Practice Time: M-F 4:30-5:30pm (1-hour practices / 5 days per week)
Group Goals:
- Successfully read the pace clock and understand intervals
- Introduce swim sets that boost aerobic training development
- Improve kicking speed and strength
- Increase knowledge on legal strokes and turns to prepare for racing
- New drill progressions to improve all four strokes
- Improve diving skills
- Attend swim meets!
Equipment: Floating fins and kick board
To move up to Bronze:
Swimmers must show commitment to focused swimming at practice. In addition to being legal in all four strokes, swimmers must attend and try new events at swim meets to track progress and development. Swimmers must be able to legally complete a 200 IM.
Bronze Group - 1.5 Hour Practices
Practices are geared toward increasing the swimmers' level of training intensity with a strong focus on correct and legal stroke technique in all four strokes. Swimmers will be introduced to aerobic training sets and endurance building practices. Consistent practice attendance is encouraged to improve more effectively, as well as participation in swim meets. When signing up for swim meets, swimmers should be open to trying new events and challenging themselves outside of their comfort zone. Communication with your coach is key and expected.
Practice days are Monday through Friday. 3-day/week training program permitted with approval from coaching staff.
Practice Time: M-F 4:30-6pm (1.5-hour practices / 5 days per week)
Group Standards:
- Legally swim all 4 strokes
- Know backstroke and freestyle flipturns
- 80+% Attendance (this is a move-up standard from AG)
- Can dive off the diving block or showing improvements.
- Shows progression and endurance in swimming a 200 IM and 200 free.
- Has attended out Home Swim Meets and shows basic understanding of swim meet environment.
- At LEAST 8 years old (unless has 3 A-times for 8 & under time standards in different strokes)
- Shows willingness to learn, pays attention, and completes warm-up and swim sets at a reasonable time.
- Be able to show endurance in test sets given by the coach.
Equipment Needed: Floating fins and kick board. SwimOutlet or Amazon are great places to purchase these items.
Silver Group - 2 Hour Practices
This training group consists of highly motivated elementary/middle school aged swimmers. The minimum age to move up to or join the Silver Group is 10 years old.
Practices are geared toward a higher level of training intensity with a strong focus on aerobic capacity development and efficient stroke mechanics in all four strokes. Average yardage per week is 20,000 to 25,000. Nutrition, core strength training, and mental strategies will be introduced. Consistent practice attendance is expected, as well as participation in meets. Swimmers should be open to trying new events and challenging themselves outside of their comfort zone. Communication with your coach is key and expected.
Practice days are Monday through Friday. 3-day/week training program permitted with approval from coaching staff.
Practice Time: M-F 5:30-7:30pm (2-hour practices / 5 days per week)
Equipment Needed: Fins, pull buoy, kick board, snorkel, and Strokemaker hand paddles. Strokemaker hand paddles should be purchased only after a coach indicates which color (size) to purchase. Mesh bag with name on it to keep everything together is highly recommended. SwimOutlet or Amazon are great places to purchase these items.
Gold Group - 2 Hour Practices
This training group consists of highly motivated middle/high school aged swimmers. The minimum age to move up to or join the Gold Group is 13 years old.
Practices are geared toward a higher level of training intensity with a strong focus on aerobic capacity development and efficient stroke mechanics in all four strokes. Average yardage per week is 25,000 to 30,000. Nutrition, core strength training, and mental strategies will be introduced. Consistent practice attendance is expected, as well as participation in meets. Swimmers should be open to trying new events and challenging themselves outside of their comfort zone. Communication with your coach is key and expected.
Practice days are Monday through Friday. 3-day/week training program permitted with approval from coaching staff.
Practice Time: M-F 5:30-7:30pm (2-hour practices / 5 days per week)
Equipment Needed: Fins, pull buoy, kick board, snorkel, and Strokemaker hand paddles. A mesh bag for your equipment with your name name on it to keep everything together is highly recommended. SwimOutlet or Amazon is a great place to purchase these items.
Senior/National Group - 2 Hour Practices + Strength Training (Additional Cost)
| Swimmers in this group have made swimming their #1 priority by attending meets, practices, and giving consistent effort. They must also actively support the team's vision and purpose. They must be physically and mentally prepared to train with a more strenuous workout schedule. This group consists of advanced middle/high school swimmers. Strength training is offered with an additional charge. Practices offered 6 days per week (M-Sat) with strength training 2 days per week. Attendance expectation and commitment level must be a minimum of 90% attendance at practices per week. Proper technique, aerobic capacity development and racing skills are emphasized. The coaching staff determines advancement into this group. The 3-Day/Week training option is not applicable for the Senior Group. |
Alumni Swimmer
We offer a program for former SeaWolves swimmers to return for the summer to swim with our team and act as role models for our younger swimmers. There is no monthly charge for this special program! The guidelines are:
- Must have been with the SeaWolves year-round for at least two years during high school
- Must have attended 1 year of college
- Program participation is anytime between June 1st and September 15th
- Must join Diamond Hills Gym (month to month)/ discounted rate
